The area's climate can best be described as moderate, pleasant and sunny. There are four full seasons, but none is too intense. Summers can be hot and humid, but the average temperature is 76 F/24 C. The July temperatures vacillate between 88 F/31 C and 69 F/21 C, but on average the temperature will reach 90 F/32 C about 31 times. Fall is gorgeous and a popular time for visits to the North Carolina mountains, less than three hours to the west. Winter is generally mild: Temperatures range between 50 F/10 C during the day and 31 F/-1 C in the evenings. A few snowfalls will punctuate the winter months, but snow usually doesn't stick around for long.
